Job Description
No Coast Custom and Rod Shop is currently seeking a skilled Body & Paint Specialist to join our team. The Specialist will play a vital role in the restoration process, utilizing their expertise to prepare vehicles for paint.
Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle surfaces for paint by using our company SOPs for sanding, masking, and priming, ensuring a smooth and clean surface for optimal paint adhesion and finish.
- Skillfully apply body fillers and hi-build primers to get a smooth and seamless appearance and finish.
- Operate and maintain paint booth equipment, including setup, calibration, and cleaning, while adhering to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Conduct quality inspections to assess paint finish quality, color accuracy, and adherence to client specifications and industry standards.
- Collaborate with other team members, including assembly and metal fabricators, to coordinate project timelines and achieve project goals.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper storage and disposal of paint materials and equipment, to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Communicate effectively with clients to discuss project requirements, provide updates on progress, and address any concerns or questions.
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and skill enhancement to stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Ability to quickly and calmly adapt and solve problems when faced with difficult or adverse situations.
Requirements
- Preferably 3 years of experience in panel alignment and gapping, bodywork, paint application and finishing in the automotive industry or a custom fabrication environment (consideration given to relevant education, job history, or special projects).
- Proficiency in preparing surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, and priming to ensure optimal paint adhesion and finish.
- Strong knowledge of body preparation, application and chemistry of the distinct layers of the preparation process to ensure a uniform and consistent appearance for each step of the body finishing process.
- Experience with automotive paint systems, including basecoats, clearcoats, and specialty finishes and the ability to achieve desired color and texture results.
- Familiarity with paint booth operations, including equipment setup, maintenance and safety protocols.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality body and paint finishes, with a keen eye for body shape and ability to shape bodywork with precision and accuracy, ensuring that each contour and line aligns seamlessly with the vehicle's design specifications.
- Proficiency in using body and paint-related tools and equipment, such as blasting equipment, sanders, blocks, sweeps, paint guns.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, effectively communicating with other team members and clients.
- Passion for the automotive industry and a desire to deliver exceptional results that exceed client expectations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines.
- Experience with show quality cars in these requirements listed is a plus.
