Manufacturing Operations Manager

Cognito is seeking a Manufacturing Operations Manager with verifiable experience organizing processes, managing teams and scaling up sustainable manufacturing and assembly production in support of multi-channel reseller and consumer-direct distribution within the automotive and powersports aftermarkets.

Well qualified candidates will have credentials or demonstrated experience in applied lean manufacturing methodology and industry best practices, along with exceptional team management skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for continuously improving the quality standards of the product with an annual goal of reducing costs associated with poor quality and warranty to or above the business goals.
• Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
• Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
• Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
• Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
• Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
• Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change.
• Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Develop KPIs to measure, track and report progress in vital areas affecting production efficiency.
• Ensure full compliance with the Cognito company safety program.
• Understand all job functions in the area and be prepared to support the team when required.

Education, Work Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business management, industrial management, engineering or related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in production, warehousing, receiving, inventory control or materials management in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing and/or supervisor experience.
• Experience in Production Operations or a Manufacturing environment (Production Control, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, etc.).
• Experience with ERP Material Requirements Planning (MRP) tools, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Lean Manufacturing principles and deployment.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
• Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder and stairs
• Must be able to stoop, crawl, kneel and maneuver around parts and equipment

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional after hours and weekend work.

This position is subject to mandatory drug testing.
