Application and Sales Engineers take full responsibility for all aspects of application and/or sales duties for the assigned customer accounts and Motorsports product lines. It includes interface with Customers, Teams and individuals, on various different subjects and in coordination with our Tech Centers in Detroit and Germany, and with various MAHLE production facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Interfaces with various individuals at our customers and different locations within the MAHLE organization. Acts as primary contact with race teams and other Motorsports product customers.
Takes responsibility for customer satisfaction and follows the company’s strategies, goals and missions.
Understands customer requirements and task in order to be able to lead and define the most competitive, reliable and acceptable way to fulfill these requirements within the limitations of the company's strategies, goals, missions, and production capabilities.
Coordinates performance piston and related components development projects, from the design phase through the Production phase. Coordinates research and testing activities conducted jointly with potential customers of the company’s products. This requires handling the necessary correspondence and customer contacts related to the application and sales duties of the assigned accounts. It also includes general administration duties as well as special assignments as needed.
Must become familiar with MAHLE technology and design procedures.
Follows up on newly developed techniques and practices in order to be able to support our customers in their piston development programs and other aspects relevant to MAHLE Motorsports.
Follows market trends and keeps management informed on all important issues concerning assigned accounts. Organizes and prepares technical presentations for our customers.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Engineering knowledge in materials, stress analysis, analytical methods, fracture mechanics, tribology, thermodynamics, internal combustion engines, design, quality and statistical methods are required.
Need to acquire special engineering background through internal training and training on the job such as:
Piston Design, Design Specifications, FMEA and internal standards
Specific internal and external quality standards
Piston production and inspection methods
Needs to be cooperative, highly flexible, self-motivated and willing to work overtime if necessary.
It is required to have a managerial mind set and have the drive to achieve high goals.
Systematic working methods and good time management is required.
Proficient in use of computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
Knowledge of motorsports industry and of automotive engines.
