Tuscany Motor Company, a division of FOX, specializing in the premium aftermarket powered vehicle performance industry in Elkhart, IN (46514) has an exciting opportunity for a Controller.
The Controller plays a fundamental, hands on role in shaping the accounting operations, working with auditors and supervising the accounting team. The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting and finance related activity, maintaining fiscal responsibility and ensuring the establishment and administration of adequate internal controls within the organization. The Controller also maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. Leads and directs an organization's accounting functions. Establishes and maintains the organization's overall accounting systems, procedures, and policies. Directs all analysis and reporting of financial information including budgets, planning, and required filings and reports. Presents findings and recommendations to management.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Ensure all daily accounting functions are completed on time
Meet internal control requirements
Manage accounting team of 7 – 8 employees
Put together and submit internal financial reports
Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and year-end close process
Monitor all general ledger accounts
Provide support for quarterly inventory
Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors.
Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances; making investments.
Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
Coordinating activities of external auditors
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
3-5 years of experience, preferably at a manufacturing company
Experience to include general understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Act
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in terms of being clear, concise, and professional with the ability to work effectively with a wide array of plant personnel ranging from hourly employees to senior management
Self-motivated with proven track record showing the ability to prioritize multiple projects under tight deadlines and work independently with little to no oversight
Excellent computer skills, particularly in MS Office applications and accounting software
Strong analytical/critical thinking
Great Plains Experience
3-5 years of experience in accounting/finance/management, preferably at a manufacturing company
